Best Plans for Pest Control

There is nothing worse than having little, unwanted, intruders in your home. Many people wake up to find that nasty little pests have invaded their homes overnight and they are now causing havoc. Getting rid of these pests can be extremely frustrating and they can be a nightmare to eliminate. Some common household pests include:
  • Fleas
  • Molecrickets
  • Ticks
  • Cockroaches
  • Carpenter Ants
  • Termites
  • Spiders
  • Mice and Rats
The above list contains a few of the common household pests, but there are many others. Luckily there are a variety of different pest control products available, which will help to eliminate the problem and return your home to its pest-free state.

How Can Household Pests Cause Damage?

Different household pests can cause different levels of damage so it is important to identify which pest you actually have before you can decide on how to tackle the problem.

Fleas

Fleas are one of the hardest pests to get rid of, yet they are extremely easy to pick up. Any infected animal can cause an infestation within the home, even if the pet is treated. They hide place like:
  • Bedding
  • Furniture such as sofa's
  • Underneath floorboards
  • Cracks in skirting boards
  • Carpets
  • Clothes
They feed dead skin cells and practically anything that is lying around. They can live without food for a while and if they get hungry they can attack humans.

They can cause skin irritations and they also carry tapeworm so they could easily pass the worms. Overall they are mainly irritable to us but they don't do much damage to the house.

Ants

While there are different types of ants that can invade our home, the big, black carpenter ants are the worst ones. They invade the home through cracks in the walls, under the floorboards and they are generally found in hot weather.

Carpenter ants burrow the wood in your home to create hollow nests. You can find their nests by tapping on a wooden skirting board, and you will tell by the sound if it is hollow or not.

While they do cause some damage, the ants aren't as bad as termites.

Termites

Termites are one of the most common pests and they can potentially cause destruction. They literally eat the house and in some cases a house may have a bad infestation. that may even lead to evacuation

You can't always see termites but if you know you have got an infestation, there are a number of termite and pest control services which can eliminate the problem.

Cockroaches

Cockroaches can also be quite common and they can be quite dangerous as they carry diseases. They usually come out at night so if you do see one during the day it could mean that you have a severe infestation and some form of pest control equipment needs to be used as soon as possible. The diseases they spread include salmonella and dysentery. The symptoms include abdominal pain and diarrhoea.

How Can I Prevent and Eliminate These Pests?

You can't always stop pests from entering your home. Flies come thorugh open windows and ants come through gaps. But there are ways to try and prevent pests and if not minimise the damages caused by them.

Pests generally enter untidy houses. They feed on scraps of left over food and bacteria and because of this it is important to keep your house clean.

There are several ways to help prevent different pests. For example, for the cockroaches you can seal all the gaps that allow them access. Also, do not leave anything open for the cockroach to feed.

Precautions to prevent fleas include washing animals in the house and regularly treating them with pest control products such as special shampoos and powders. Cleaning the house regularly and thoroughly will help in keeping pests away.

If the infestation is too bad you can also call pest control companies who carry specialized pest control equipment and they will be able to help you to eliminate the pests as soon as possible.

How to Choose a Safe and Effective Pesticide Product

Choosing the right pesticide for your home is not always easy. But to be able to choose a safe indoor pest control it is best to know what a pesticide is.

A pesticide is something that is used to kill indoor or outdoor pests. It is made up of chemicals and it can be potentially harmful to humans.
